যে-সব Word দ্বারা ব্যক্তি, বস্তু, পদার্থ, স্থান, কাল, দোষ, গুণ প্রভৃতি বোঝায় সেইসব Word কে Noun বা বিশেষ্য পদ বলা হয়। যেমন।-
1. Kumaresh, Dipak, Bijay, Pritismita প্রভৃতি ব্যক্তির নাম।
2. Book, Fan, Mobile, pen প্রভৃতি বস্তুর নাম।
3. Water, Milk, Tea, Curd প্রভৃতি পদার্থের নাম।
4. India, Bihar, Agra, Mumbai প্রভৃতি স্থানের নাম।
5. Day, Night, Summer, Winter প্রভৃতি কালের নাম।
6. Honesty, Beauty, Intelligent, Healthy প্রভৃতি গুনের নাম।
7. Cruelty, Madness প্রভৃতি দোষের নাম।
Definition: Noun is the name of a person, animal, place, thing, feeling and idea.

Noun চেনার সহজ উপায়ঃ

প্রধানত তিনটি পদ্ধতিতে খুব সহজেই Noun চেনা যায়। যথাঃ-

1. যা চোখে দেখা যা তা Noun। যেমনঃ মানুষ, পাখি, গাছ, পশু, কম্পিউটার ঘর, বাড়ি ইত্যাদি।

2. যা কানে শোনা যায় তা Noun। যেমনঃ শব্দ, গান-বাজনা, চিৎকার ইত্যাদি।

3. যা অনুভব করা যায় তা Noun। যেমনঃ বাতাস, ঠান্ডা, গরম, প্রভৃতি।
Noun-এর শ্রেণীবিভাগ

Noun কে প্রধানতঃ পাঁচটি শ্রেণীতে ভাগ করা যায়। যথাঃ-

1. Proper Noun

2. Common Noun

3. Material Noun

4. Collective Noun

5. Abstract Noun
Proper Noun কাকে বলে

যে Noun দ্বারা কোনো নির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি, বস্তু, স্থান, সাগর, মহাসাগর, সংস্থা, পত্রিকা, পদবী ইত্যাদি নাম বোঝায় তাকে Proper Noun বলে।
Definition: A proper noun is the name of a particular person, place, organization, or thing. Proper nouns begin with a capital letter. The name of festivals, months and days of the week are also proper nouns.
1. Prachi is a good girl. (Prachi একটি মেয়ের নাম)
2. Kolkata is the capital of West Bengal. (Kolkata এবং West Bengal-দুটি স্থানের নাম)
3. December is the last month of the year. (December-একটি মাসের নাম)
4. The Ganges is the holy river. (Ganges-একটি নদীর নাম)
5. Cholera is a serious type of disease. (Cholera-একটি বোগের নাম)

Common Noun কাকে বলে

যে Noun দ্বারা একই শ্রেণীর কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তু, স্থান বা প্রাণীকে নির্দিষ্ট করে না বুঝিয়ে সে সকল শ্রেণীর সাধারণ নাম বুঝায় তাকেই Common Noun বলে যেমন Student, Book, Animal, Flower etc.

Definition: A common noun is the generic name for a person, place, or thing in a class or group. Common nouns can be concrete, abstract, or collective.
1. The cow lives on grass. (The cow বলতে গরু জাতিকে বুঝাচ্ছে।)
2. The dog is a faithful animal. (The dog বলতে কুকুর জাতিকে বুঝাচ্ছে।)
3. The tiger is a ferocious beast. (The tiger বলতে বাঘ জাতিকে বুঝাচ্ছে।)
4. The birds can fly. (The birds বলতে পাখি জাতিকে বুঝাচ্ছে।)
5. Man is mortal. (Man বলতে মানুষ জাতিকে বুঝাচ্ছে।)

Collective Noun কাকে বলে

যে noun দ্বারা কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা প্রাণীকে পৃথকভাবে না বুঝিয়ে তাদের অবিভক্ত সমষ্টিকে বুঝায়, তাকে Collective Noun বলে। যেমন Club, Army, Class, Family, etc.

Definition: A word that is the name of a group of people,animals or things is called a Collective nouns.

1. Sudip reads in class VII.

2. Riya is the manager of this company.

3. She is a member of this club.
Material Noun কাকে বলে

যে Noun দ্বারা গণনা করা যায় না কিন্তু ওজন আছে এমন কিছুর নাম বোঝায় তাকে Material Noun বলে যেমন Gold, Glass, Salt, Iron, Silver, Cloth, Air, Milk, etc.

Definition: A materialist noun is a noun that describe the name of the material. It is an uncountable noun. It's a substance or material that we can see and touch but can't count.

1. We cannot live without water. (এখানে যত Water আছে সমস্ত Water কে বোঝাচ্ছে।)

2. Gold is a precious thing. (এখানে যত Gold আছে সমস্ত Gold কে বোঝাচ্ছে।)

3. Silver is white and bright. (এখানে যত Silver আছে সমাস Silver কে বোঝাচ্ছে।)

4. Rice is our main food. (এখানে যত Rice আছে সমস্ত Rice কে বোঝাচ্ছে।)

Abstract Noun কাকে বলে

যে Noun দ্বারা কোন ব্যক্তি কিংবা বস্তুর দোষ, গুণ, অবস্থা ইত্যাদির নাম বুঝায় এবং যা ইন্দ্রিয়েগ্রাহ্য নয়, শুধু অনুভব বা কল্পনা করা যায় কিন্তু ধরা বা ছোয়া যায় না তাদেরকে Abstract Noun বলে।
Definition: The name of a thing that you can not touch, see and taste but you can feel it only is called an Abstract noun.
1. The kindness of Vidyasagar is known to all. (এখানে Kindness একটি গুনের নাম)
2. Cruelty is very harmful to everybody, (এখানে Cruelty একটি দোষের নাম)
3. I support the boy for his braveness. (এখানে Braveness একটি গুনের নাম)
